Interface

The interface is what connects two separate entities: you and your computer, for instance. In the olden times (the early '80s), you interfaced with a computer via keyed-in command-line operations. Then Apple came along and wildly popularized the graphical user interface (GUI): the desktop and icon interface you're probably using right now.
